What is the difference between VAC and VDC in hipot test?
A DC hipot test can show the leakage current value of an isolation transformer. An AC hipot test will often cause the Y capacitor in the product to produce high leakage currents. As a result, if the Y capacitor cannot be removed during the manufacturing engineering process, the test will be done after some adjustments are made to prevent the test result from being influenced by the leakage currents. The adjustments include lowering the limits of the leakage currents or turning the AC into DC in accordance with the related standards (ex. 4000 VAC = 5656 VDC).
